چکیده

The symbol of the Hessian for an aeroelastic optimization model problem is analyzed. The ow is modeled by the small-disturbance full potential equation and the structure is modeled by an isotropic (von K arm an) plate equation. The cost function consists of both aerodynamic and structural terms. In the new analysis the symbol of the cost function Hessian near the minimum is computed. The result indicates that under some conditions, which are likely ful lled in most applications, the system is decoupled for the non-smooth components. The result also shows that the structure part in the Hessian is well-conditioned while the aerodynamic part is ill-conditioned. Applications of the result to optimization strategies are discussed. Superlinearly convergent exact penalty projected structured Hessian updating schemes for constrained nonlinear least squares: asymptotic analysis

We present a structured algorithm for solving constrained nonlinear least squares problems, and establish its local two-step Q-superlinear convergence. The approach is based on an adaptive structured scheme due to Mahdavi-Amiri and Bartels of the exact penalty method of Coleman and Conn for nonlinearly constrained optimization problems. The structured adaptation also makes use of the ideas of N...

A class of multi-agent discrete hybrid non linearizable systems: Optimal controller design based on quasi-Newton algorithm for a class of sign-undefinite hessian cost functions

In the present paper, a class of hybrid, nonlinear and non linearizable dynamic systems is considered. The noted dynamic system is generalized to a multi-agent configuration. The interaction of agents is presented based on graph theory and finally, an interaction tensor defines the multi-agent system in leader-follower consensus in order to design a desirable controller for the noted system. Helicopter Blade Stability Analysis Using Aeroelastic Frequency Response Functions

In the present paper, the aeroelastic stability of helicopter rotor blade is determined using Aeroelastic Frequency Response Function. The conventional methods of aeroelastic stability usually use an iterative procedure while the present method does not require such approach. Aeroelastic Frequency Response Functions are obtained by inverting dynamic stiffness matrix of the aeroelastic system. S...

On the Behavior of Damped Quasi-Newton Methods for Unconstrained Optimization

We consider a family of damped quasi-Newton methods for solving unconstrained optimization problems. This family resembles that of Broyden with line searches, except that the change in gradients is replaced by a certain hybrid vector before updating the current Hessian approximation. This damped technique modifies the Hessian approximations so that they are maintained sufficiently positive defi...
